T. Newborn session | Vienna
Little baby T. looks so peaceful and she really was! I must say that she slept like an angel throughout the entire session. A lot of parents come into my studio and wonder how I suddenly manage to calm the babies so fast and "easily". Well first of all, it's not so easy as it looks, especially at 26-27 degrees and when doing it for already 1h, you can see the sweat rolling down my forehead and cheeks :)) but that actually means I'm doing it right. A few of the tools that I use to ensure a good and proper atmosphere, in which my babies fall easily asleep are listed below (feel free to scroll). My key "ingredients" for a calm and sleepy baby at a photo session:

My secrets to having a sleepy baby during as photo shoot? In case you missed my last blog post, I was telling you about my key secrets to ensuring a very calm baby during a session but not only. I will enlist these again at the bottom of this post, in case you wanna take a look at them. You will find the white noise magic machine, a long segmented cherry pit pillow and a small portable heater. One more useful thing that I use at newborn sessions are disposable changing pads that one can also use at home, because they are very practical. I keep being asked about these as well, so I am going to link this too.

Wondering what are my tools to ensure a sleeping and calm baby? I am not only talking about doing this at photo sessions. but also in your day to day life at home to help you settle a baby. I will directly link my personal recommendations, that I have also tested and I will also display them once again at the end of this post: • First of all I use a white noise machine and after trying a few, even the renowned Baby Shusher (which broke after a short while after purchase), I can whole heartedly recommend this one (see below)• A second powerful tool that I use is a long cherry pit pillow, divided into a few segments, to hold the little cherry stones in place and not let them all go to one side, when moved. I use this long pillow to place on the baby, when I need to work on a particular part, during wrapping or on the beanbag. I will often put it over the legs and bottom and even over the back, so it will give the baby some sense of security. I call it my 3rd hand and then I can concentrate on the head and hands and not have as a result the moro reflex. You can use it either warmed up or cold (I use it at room temperature and it still does the trick.• Last, but not least, I will use a small compact heater almost the whole time during the session, but especially when the baby is semi/-naked. Warmth will remind the baby of the atmosphere in the womb and will make the baby sleepy. It's also a good and practical tool, at home when changing the diaper, so that the baby won't scream in the middle of the night. Warmth will always make them feel safe and comfortable. One last thing that doesn't necessarily help with soothing the baby, but it's a very practical thing to have in the house with a small baby, that I also use at sessions are the disposable changing pads (also linked below).
